went to town today for the matinee of a new work by a local playwright.
but the real theater came when I was riding the bus home. a woman came on dressd in plastic bags. her "dress" was a large black garbage bag. on her head was a smaller black bag twistd into a bandana. around her neck was a white bag in the drape of a fashionable scarf. & of course her belongings were in a black garbage bag purse. surely the most modish bag lady I've ever encounterd.

I saw the same play here in San Francisco just last week. I luvs it! plastic-bag-fashion road-shows will be the next big thing!
that's pretty funny. I've had many similar experiences when I rode the train to and from work. once, there was a modish woman about 50 with salt and pepper short hair, dressed in black, sweater, slacks and black thick framed glasses. from a distance very stylish. kinda looked like she belonged in SF. so she gets on the crowded train and I see her glasses are worn upside down. I thought, man that is unfortunate, guess she can't afford new glasses so must improvise on her old prescription. then I forgot about her in the crowd. a couple of stops later I hear this, grrrr! low, gutteral and downright unnerving. the crowd had thinned so I see where she is sitting. then she growls again and looks directly at a poor soul across the aisle. why are you thinking about me, Spanish Man? I'm not thinking about you, she said. and the poor guy sat there, bemused and a bit freaked by her. until he got off on the next stop. and she continued her low gutteral growls for a couple of miles then gets off the train to disappear with the rest of the early evening commuters.
wow Richard -- how lucky to be that close to Eartha Kitt.....
