my initial encounter with Davis was strictly stage door (during the run of "Night of the Iguana"). then I escortd my friend Lois Wilson to the AFI salute to Davis. Lois had playd her mother in "Seed" & insistd on introducing me. I was at a Beverly Hills tribute for Davis at which she collapsd & was carried away by Robert Osborne. the buzz was that she had died but she toddld back -- wig only slightly askew. this picture at Tavern on the Green was after she'd acceptd the lifetime achievement award of Lincoln Center Film Society.
