the way she was

that's how I'll remember Barbra Streisand. she was one of the most original performers of my generation. but watching her being honord at Kennedy Center was sad. & not just because she was sharing that balcony with President Worst Ever.

in clips we saw how great she was when she was young. I can still remember when I first saw her on obscure tv shows. then on Broadway in "Funny Girl." & those early tv specials. but can you remember the last time she matterd?

go ahead. take my gay card away. but what I found most moving on this year's Kennedy Center Honors was the tribute to The Who.

I thought she looked like one of my aunts. She's not young anymore, but I think her voice is still good. We all get old, and thank God I won't have to look at the fool with the smirk on his stupid face anymore. I did like laura bush though, always have, she looked like she was having a swell time. And remember what she said "I only married the guy, you all voted for him."

Townsend was the only honoree who seemd to be having a good time. poor Tharp seemd embarrassd by it all. & the puffy face of Babs appeard in great pain as others attemptd to sing her songs.

Maybe she had a toothache. Tharp looked like she needed to take a good dump. Agree that Townsend looked like he was having fun, but I thought these honors were only for American performers, thought they were an odd choice.

I suspect Daltrey & Townsend were being honord for their post-9/11 efforts.

I think my favorite Babs was "The Concert" recordings which, I think she did in the "back yard" of her home, with an orchestra of course.

That verson of "On a Clear Day" has always been my favorite. She had an astonishing voice then; at her peak.
