David McDaniel (1948-2013)

I just learnd that David died 2 weeks ago.

as so many I first knew him as one-third of the group Gotham  -- so important to me in the late '70s. I still hope someone does a documentary on this early openly gay group.

he was a beautiful man & sweet singer. as I type this I'm listening to Gotham's "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" but my eyes are so full of tears I can't quite see the screen.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I met David when he was singing with GOTHA< at they were at their height, regularly play THE GRAND FINALE, a record, sold out concert at the Kennedy Center. !976 -77. I was a waiter at the Finale. I was in awe of them all and loved being a tiny part of the swirl. I re-met David ten years or so later on various catering jobs. He remembered me from those days. We were casual friends with more in common then than just those days. We re-met on FB and chatted some. I think I just recently wishes him a Happy Birthday. RIP, David. I know life was not always easy, but you were always a kind man.

i was friends with david many years ago. we lost touch in 2004. he stopped seeing me. i never knew why because we got on so well. i just found out he died 9 years ago. i'm so sorry. it appears he was involved in an accident. anyone know any more?

he was so wonderful and we had so much in common. he refused to see me and i never found out why. the last time we met, he was going to write a script for a one woman show about my experiences with online dating that were hilarious. we were laughing hysterically. then he dropped me. i tried contacting him a few times after that but he did not acknowledge the emails or calls
