That's a beautiful print. I've had some luck searching out old ditches used to drain some local wetlands when they built the Miami-Erie Canal in the 1830s as well as ice ponds, little remnant wetlands, and the like. With aerial photos from the 1960s and 90s, old maps, and a current topo map, it proved possible to locate some features that still exist and wander around the old earthworks. I suppose it would be possible to find the spot depicted in the print. It looks like a really interesting area.
I suspect the mountains in the background wd be key to discovering Baumann's exact spot. I presume the course of the arroyo itself has changd over the decades.
