going thru his "stuff" I discoverd he'd kept every pay stub from all those years at General Industries. those stubs were the inspiration for this piece:
My dad worked for Ridge Tool in Elyria for 25 years (I did a brief stint one summer)and still meets his fellow retirees on occasion for breakfast. Elyria, like much of NE Ohio and USA in general, still had a manufacturing base back in those days which could support families such as ours, enabling us to go to college, etc. Grateful that it existed, sad that it is disappearing.
