"Brokeback Mountain"

it's less of a movie than I was expecting. & it's more of a movie than I was expecting.

altho I have serious issues with it   the film does have an extraordinary performance level.

For me its the film of the year. I was completly overwhelmed and moved by it.And yes the film does raise many issues, like would we have been moved or would the movie had even been made if the two male leads were'nt A list hotties but plain looking character actors. Maybe I was in the mood for an old fashioned Hollywood weepie. I also love that the film is making money and is a hit with surprise postitive reactions coming from the south and the red states. The far right is really up against the wall with this one. The performances. Oh how beautiful they were. I much prefer acting to impersonation so for me I have to say that Heath Ledger's performance is greater than Philip Seymour Hoffman's Capote. Even though I love Philip Seymour Hoffman.

the casting is flawless. great attention has been paid to every role. the leads are superb but so much is done with so little by Broadway veterans like Roberta Maxwell & David Harbour.
